Why Do We Drink Wine is a book about wine that won’t leave you cold. In it, author Fabrizio Bucella sets out on an investigation. His goal is to answer one crucial question: why do we drink wine? After it was recommended to us by Krystel Lepresle in her interview, we had no excuse left. In a few words, here’s what we thought of this book.

The book Why Do We Drink Wine

Here’s a book that gives wine a new dimension. In it, we’re a long way from a guide or a course on tasting. It’s something far more original. Over the pages, you’ll discover the reasons that drive people to drink wine. In the end, it’s not certain a definitive answer exists. Still, the book contains some lovely pages about wine: just the thing to help you shine when you go wine tasting.

Fabrizio Bucella draws a few comparisons with animals that love fermented fruit. Then it’s all in there. The author analyses our average wine consumption through the lens of drinking habits, revisits the 1976 Judgment of Paris, and shines a light on texts by Greek philosophers on the subject.
