Parallèle 45 is a very pleasant red we tasted for you not long ago. To be honest, we already knew this wine from dinners. After tasting it, we were sure we had to tell you a bit more. We’re now bringing you more on this Côtes du Rhône, excellent but accessible.

Our take on Parallèle 45

First off, Parallèle 45 is a round, fruity wine. This Côtes du Rhône is extremely well balanced. We find it just tannic enough and with lovely fruit presence. It’s a wine characteristic of the region and the terroir.

On the grape varieties, Parallèle 45 is composed of 60% Grenache and 40% Syrah. It’s a fairly structured wine in which you’ll find delicious fruit.

On the food and wine pairing side, you can taste this Côtes du Rhône during a barbecue. You can also pair it with charcuterie, cheeses, a pot-au-feu, white meats or red meats. You won’t have major difficulty pairing this wine.

Where does the name of this Côtes du Rhône come from?

The question arises: where does the name Parallèle 45 come from? The 45th parallel is the parallel that runs through the Rhône Valley and crosses part of the Maison de Paul Jaboulet Aîné vineyards. From there, it’s pretty easy to see where this wine’s name comes from.

That said, there’s a theory that the best wines are produced between the 40th and 50th parallels. It adds to the charm of beautiful wine stories. We’ll come back to those in upcoming articles, no doubt.
