Building a wine cellar with Smart Cave
The app’s main feature is letting you create a cellar and log the bottles you own. The app then takes care of sorting your wines by various criteria. You get a clear overview of the bottles in your cellar, their value (handy if you want to invest in wine), and the best moment to drink them.

Here, we created an example for a 1996 Château Fonroque. The app tells us the value of the bottle in the cellar as well as its peak window for tasting. By sorting your cellar this way and getting this information, you can now be sure you won’t miss a single wine. It’s always sad not to be able to fully enjoy a wine. Smart Cave keeps you informed of the state of your cellar at all times.
Cellar statistics
Smart Cave also gives you access to plenty of statistics about your cellar. You’ll find all sorts of figures, such as the number of bottles, the number of crus, the geographic distribution of your cellar, and the breakdown by vintage and colour. You’ll also find the number of bottles past their peak, ready to drink, and worth keeping. Finally, you get price and value statistics.

All of this can prove particularly useful for growing your cellar and never missing a single bottle. It also lets you know exactly what your cellar contains and better steer your purchases.
Tasting notes and reviews
Smart Cave lets you store your tasting notes and comments for each wine. If you own several bottles of the same vintage, this can be an excellent way to track its evolution and watch the wine develop over time. Our take on Smart Cave
Smart Cave is a good wine cellar management app that includes all the essential features. That said, two disappointments got in the way for us. The first is the requirement to sign up in order to use the app’s features. It really should be possible to use the app at least minimally without entering personal data. The other is that the user experience within this wine app needs work: navigation isn’t very intuitive, and the design still needs polishing.
In the end, Smart Cave is a very nice app that can support you in building your cellar. We hope to see plenty more development on it.
